John co-founded Figtree in 2004, the multi- award winning branding agency and grew it to a fifty plus person business with offices in London Paris and Hong Kong. He moved to Asia in 2011 to build the agencies presence in the region and spent six great years working with fast growing clients in the technology and financial services space. In 2012 John and his business partner sold Figtree to Prophet the San Francisco HQ’ed management consultancy. Between 2009 and 2011, John was the only external member of HTC's global marketing board. He lead the team that created HTC's brand and oversaw much of the internal and external implementation work, helping HTC to become one of the worlds leading smartphone brands and the 98th most valuable brand (Interbrand Top 100), in under two years. John began his career as a designer at Newell and Sorrell, before joining Interbrand as a creative director. He is a regular commentator on brand related issues for Bloomberg and the BBC. He was also asked to represent the British Creative Industries on a recent UK government trade mission to Beijing. He is now back in London, writing a book about a new way to build brands, and helping a handful of start ups to become grown up’s which he is finding throughly enjoyable.
